Outstanding education at the heart of the community

Headteacher's Statement

Tarleton Academy students have proved their excellence with our best ever results in 2012 and a dramatic increase in achievement. This year 92% of students have achieved at least 5 grades A* - C. Possibly even more significant however is that 70% of these were A* - C grades including Maths and English, which is a massive increase of 10% on last year’s results.

79% of Tarleton students achieved A* - C in English while in Maths results 78% of students achieved A* - C . Other notable success with over 90% A* – C were in Art and PE with 100% in English Literature, ICT, RE, Music and Statistics.

These fantastic results are rightly being celebrated by students, staff and parents who work together to push hard for the best possible outcomes for our delightful young people. With a tremendous upsurge in effort and focus we have made a good school even better and have ensured a vibrant, mutually supportive ethos with a real eye on achieving personal bests. Our students have continued the spirit of our national Olympic champions and are now enjoying the success they fully deserve. We are all extremely proud of them.

Personally, I am thrilled to be part of Tarleton Academy at such an exciting time, providing outstanding education at the heart of our community.

Tarleton Academy is already a 'good school with outstanding features' (Ofsted 2010). The aspirations of the school are much higher than this and we are all firmly convinced that nothing less than the best will do. This is a target well within our capabilities.

Everyone associated with the school is committed to continuous improvement and to a future that builds on current strengths while embracing the opportunities to grow and thrive. I am regularly impressed by the many young people at Tarleton who have pride in themselves and their school and who are keen to be an integral part of this drive for excellence. We are firmly committed to ensuring that Tarleton is a school where everyone is valued, where quality is expected and which takes its role at the heart of the community seriously.

At Tarleton we believe that every student should receive the same consideration that we would want for our own children. We believe in clear boundaries, high aspirations, creative solutions and the genuine enjoyment that comes from the joy of learning and the pride of achievement and success.

In our school you will find an educational community dedicated to the successful development of each individual. Academic progress and attainment are extremely important to us, as you will find reflected in our results. This is due to a total commitment to developing excellent teaching and learning by highly skilled and dedicated staff, constantly reflecting upon and developing their own practice. It is also due to a genuine care for, and partnership with, our pupils and their families.

We place considerable emphasis on developing the foundations of personal achievement, vibrant health and well-being, creativity and individuality. Our intention is to help our young people grow to become outstanding, independent, resilient and effective young adults, ready to embrace the challenges of an uncertain 21st Century world.
