Lancashire School Athletics Championships 2014

Tarleton Trio Take Titles

Tarleton Academy's growing reputation for developing athletic talent was again highlighted at the recent Lancashire Schools Athletics Championships in Blackpool.

18 Tarleton students were selected to represent the West Lancashire District at the event, with six finishing in the top two positions.

Lucy Townson picked up a Silver in the U17 300m Hurdles, with Grace Nuttall and Dani Wynn taking the same colour medal as runners up in the U15 Shot and U17 Javelin respectively.

Other outstanding performances included Ed Latimer winning the U17 400m in a time of 52.2sec, which was just outside the National Schools qualifying time and Megan Case winning the U17 300m Hurdles in dominant style.

The performance of the Championships came in the U17 Men's 100m, where Tarleton's Morgan Greaves Thomas stormed to victory in a personal best, National Qualifying time and Championship Record of 11.0 sec. This result means that Morgan will take on the nation’s top track and field talent at the English Schools Championships in Birmingham.

All students selected were a credit to their school and we are very proud of their performances.
