YEAR PLAN

Year 10 Drama

 Year 10 students will develop their understanding of theatre and performance skills throughout before completing OCR GCSE Drama Component 1:  Devising Drama (worth 30% of the GCSE) by the end of the academic year.

Theatre Practitioners

Students will study differing theatre practitioners, for example, Konstantin Stanislavski and Bertolt Brecht to develop knowledge and understating of naturalism and non- naturalism.

 

September 2016 Theatre trip: ‘Blood Brothers’

Students will have the opportunity to see a live theatre production to deepen knowledge, understanding and appreciation of theatre

 

Devised Performance Work I

Students will extensively explore devised work from a variety of stimuli in preparation for Component 1.

GCSE formal Assessment of live theatre evaluation

 

Informal verbal feedback ongoing throughout.

 

Independent research into theatre practitioners and movements such as:

Epic Theatre and Expressionism

 

Completion of live theatre production journal to support evaluation

 

Mock examination of live theatre evaluation

 

Study of various formats of portfolio for component 1

Devised Performance Work II

Students will extensively explore devised work from a variety of stimuli in preparation for Component 1.

 

Component 1: Students will undertake Component 1:  Devising Drama (30% of the GCSE), working in small groups as an actor or designer to develop and shape a devised performance from a given stimulus.

GCSE formal Assessment

Internally assessed/ externally moderated

 

Informal verbal feedback ongoing throughout.

Creation of a substantial portfolio of evidence to show development of devised work from inception to final performance 

 

Students are encouraged to regularly access our Drama Firefly pages to be guided to useful links and websites

 

Extra-curricular rehearsals to shape performance

 

Memorising of spoken lines

Summer 2

Component 1: Students will complete Component 1:  Devising and finalise their portfolios. Internally assessed and externally moderated

 

Drama MOT

Students will examine their own developed skills and detect gaps in their knowledge and skill-set. Topics will be revisited where required and one off workshops will help support students.

GCSE formal Assessment

 

Informal verbal feedback ongoing throughout.

Continued development of the substantial portfolio of evidence to show development of devised work from inception to final performance
