YEAR PLAN

Year 11 Drama

Year 11 students will complete the two remaining components in this, their final year. Much emphasis will be on preparation through practical activities to prepare students for the assessments.

Study of a Scripted Text

Students study a full and substantial play text, focusing on elements including: characterisation, plot structure, subtext, theme, symbolism, set- design and performance skills. This study will prepare the students for component 2.

 

Component 2: Presenting and Performing play Texts:  Students will begin Component 2 (30% of the GCSE), through final assessment by a visiting examiner.

GCSE formal Assessment

Informal verbal feedback ongoing throughout.

 Social, historical, economical, political and cultural research on play text to deepen understanding.

 

Study of provided support materials

 

Memorising of scripted lines and development of character

 

Extra-curricular rehearsals to shape performance

Component 2: Presenting and Performing play Texts:  Students will continue  Component 2 (30% of the GCSE), through to final assessment by a visiting examiner (date TBC in November 2017)

 

Theatre trip: TBC

Students will watch a live theatre production as part of their written examination. Lessons will concern the study of the productions theatre medium and elements in preparation for the final written examination.

Completion of pro-forma for visiting examiner

Students will prepare for their final written examination (40% of GCSE)

 

Component 3- Drama: Performance and Response

Students will undertake a final written examination (40% of GCSE) in the summer examination series
