The art department runs a busy programme of events both in and out of school to encourage students to develop their interest in the arts.
There are busy Art Clubs held every day at lunchtime and an after school workshop for GCSE and AS Level students.
Each year the whole school takes part in Big Draw Day which encourages all departments to look at how drawing is used to enhance the curriculum.
Quest Weeks involve students being given a challenging task such as designing individual department display boards, creating natural sculptures to be set in the school grounds, assisting with props and sets for school productions and working with a local Nursing Home on a Past Memories project with senior citizens.
Students opting into art and design at GCSE level have the opportunity to visit Museum and Galleries in Liverpool, Manchester and London. The trips give students the opportunity to gather visual information first hand from works of art to help them in their exams.
