Drama has a strong tradition of extra-curricular provision. After school groups meet weekly through term time and through a range of performance activities students are encouraged to develop their performance and stagecraft skills.
All students are encouraged to audition for the school production which is an annual event and creates a company of actors, technicians, stage managers and make-up artists that comprises 70 plus students. The standard of performance and production is extremely high – partly the result of working with The National Theatre as part of their ‘new connections/discovery’ programme for many years.
In 2007 we were selected as best production of Judith Johnson’s ‘Scary Play’ and invited to perform on their Olivier Stage, receiving our award from Alan Rickman.
A number of our students have successfully auditioned for the National Youth Theatre and gone on to pursue courses in Drama. A number presently work in theatre and television.
